ANIMAL GENETICS AND BREEDING
History
The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding is engaged in teaching, research and extension activities since inception of VCI standards as per its mandate. Courses are offered regularly to B.V.Sc and A.H. students as per the standards of Veterinary Council of India. The post graduate programme was initiated in the year 1976. Total 42 students have successfully completed M.V.Sc. in Animal Genetics and Breeding .
The Department has its Molecular Genetics and, Cytogenetics laboratory Department also has Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Computer Laboratory with 20 students capacity as per MSVE 2016. All the required equipments and lab wares are available to undertake UG classes. During the progressive, upward journey, the department has not only streamlined teaching research and other activities but also developed infrastructural facilities in the form of a renovated building admeasuring 1500sq feet to implement the research projects as well as to develop post graduate teaching /research facility with educational equipments like audio visual facilities e.g. LCD Projector, Laminar Flow, Gradient PCR machine, Trinocular microscope, digital weighing balance, digital water bath, vertical and horizontal electrophoresis unit, deep freezer and other molecular genetics equipments etc.
