Remount and Veterinary Squadron of National Cadet Corps unit at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur was formally established in April 2004. The aim of establishing this unit is to impart training to the cadets in horsemanship and horse master-ship and also to become future riders of the country. The NCC also aims to develop amongst the cadets, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook and selfless service. 1 (MAH) R & V Squadron, NCC, Nagpur still holds the distinction of being the only R & V NCC unit in the whole of Maharashtra state.
ANOs: At the college level, two Associate NCC officers were appointed as part time NCC officers. The ANOs form the most vital link between cadets of the educational institution and the NCC unit.

We have 13 horses at present. As per mandate of R & V Sqn, NCC unit, it trains cadets to be competent riders in various disciplines. The syllabi cover basic training & specialized training in show jumping, tent- pegging, dressage, hacks and have-a-gamble. Equitation is a serious activity and many riders spend months in the saddle to gain the experience necessary to participate at the Republic Day camp at New Delhi. Since Jan 2008, R & V Sqn has been sending trained 5 cadets to participate in equestrian sports competition held at New Delhi. The cadets participate in the Prime minister’s Rally and get a rare opportunity to meet Hon’ble President of India, distinguished personalities in Army, Hon’ble Governor, Chief Minister, Home Minister of Maharashtra State and many other dignitaries. Till date more than 50 students of institute students participated in the prestigious RDC at New Delhi and grabbed various medals.
